These are the celebrity twins you may not know existed

Two is better than one, right? Sister or brother, fraternal or identical, these celebrities have one thing in common: they all share their birthday with a sibling.

You’ve seen some of them everywhere – from Oscar Winner and Bohemian Rhapsody star, Rami Malek, to everyone’s eternal girl crush, Scarlett Johansson, but there may also be someone you’ve overlooked this whole time: their twin. Neither of their twins followed their siblings into acting, with Scarlet’s twin, Hunter Johansson, choosing a life of politics – he was even a campaign advisor for Barack Obama in 2008.

Rami, meanwhile told Jimmy Fallon that he has even pretended to be his twin brother to help him pass a class. He explained: “So he [Sami] calls me one day… he goes, ‘Hey, do you know a Greek monologue from a Greek tragedy? ‘Yeah, of course, I’ve just been doing this for four years.’ He goes, ‘Listen, I need you to come down to my university’ – a major American university here in Los Angeles. He goes, ‘I need you to do this for my class. It’s gonna give me the points I need.'” Now that is brotherly love.

Some twins have, however, followed in their famous brother or sister’s footsteps. Hollywood is filled with famous twins such as the super famous Olsen twins, Disney stars Dylan and Cole Sprouse, and Tia and Tamera Mowry of Sister, Sister. They all rose to fame as twins in their early days and came as a buy-one-get-one free package in their on-screen appearances.

Since moving on from acting, the Olsen Twins have turned their talents to fashion, setting up their wildly successful – and wildly expensive – high-end designer brand, The Row.

Some celebrity twins are very hard to tell apart from their more famous family members, whilst others seem to share nothing in common with them. Either way, it’s always exciting to find out more about your favourite star and their family.

Here are celebrity twins you had no idea existed.

Rami and Sami Malek
Guess what? Bohemian Rhapsody actor Rami Malek has an identical twin brother called Sami and he’s unsurprisingly gorgeous. While Rami laps up the Hollywood circuit, his twin opted for a quieter life working in education out of the spotlight. However, the two have been known to join forces, with Rami delivering a Greek monologue from a Greek tragedy to his twin’s lecture group.

Brittany & Cynthia Daniel
No, you’re not seeing double. These are Cali twins Brittany and Cynthia Daniel. Although it’s hard to tell them apart, you may have recognised Brittany – on the left – for her role as mean-girl Megan Vandergeld in the epic White Chicks. The star is also known across the pond for her character in the TV series Sweet Valley High, Dawson’s Creek and most recently in The Game. Her twin sis, Cynthia, is no stranger to the spotlight as well, having starred next to Brittany in Sweet Valley High. Cynthia had a brief acting career, and is now a photographer.

Jon & Dan Heder
We have yet to figure out which one of these two is Jon. The Napoleon Dynamite star grew up in Oregon with his twin brother Dan, and the duo have pursued similar careers. Jon turned to acting in 2002 during college – only two years later and he lead the blockbuster Napoleon Dynamite, which was followed by another hit, The Benchwarmers. While Dan is previsualisation artist, meaning he does digital animation and visual effects of complex movie scenes. And you’ve probably already seen his work – a few impressive examples are the Edge of Tomorrow, and most recently Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

Giovanni & Marissa Ribisi
You may know Giovanni from his villain role in the big-screen hit Ted. Or, from playing Frank Buffay, the father of triplets and Phoebe’s brother in the sitcom Friends. IRL, Giovanni has a twin sister, Marissa, whom also acts. Marissa starred in The Brady Bunch Movie and did many TV appearances (including Friends, as one of Rachel’s posh besties). She is married to indie musician Beck and has a fashion line called Whitley Kros.

Ashton & Michael Kutcher
Ashton Kutcher has a little-known twin brother called Michael, who had a heart transplant when they were very young. “I didn’t want to come home and find more bad news about my brother,” the actor said of his childhood, “so I kept myself so busy that I didn’t allow myself to feel.” Michael now lives in Iowa and sells retirement plans.

Aaron & Angela Carter
We all know Aaron Carter has a famous brother in the Backstreet Boys’ Nick, but did you know he also had a twin? Angel Carter was born one minute after Aaron and is an aspiring model and singer.

Benji & Joel Madden
Benji and Joel Madden prove that great things can happen when twins work together. They formed the band Good Charlotte in 1996 and went on to win three MTV Awards and sell millions of records.

Harry & Luke Treadaway
Gorgeous twins Harry and Luke Treadaway made their professional debut as conjoined twin brothers in Brothers Of The Head. During filming they were connected to each other for 15 hours a day with a harness, and slept in the same bed to simulate the connection of their characters (talk about intimate!). Now (though both equally handsome), they are very much their own people.

Scarlett & Hunter Johansson
Scarlett Johansson’s twin brother Hunter appeared with his older sis (by three minutes) in the 1996 film, Manny & Lo, before embarking on a career in politics, which included working for Barack Obama.

Olly & Ben Murs
Olly Murs and his twin brother Ben got involved in a feud after the X Factor runner-up missed Ben’s wedding so he could perform on the show. “What hurt was that he never even told me himself he wasn’t going to be able to be my best man,” said Ben. But Olly says he still loves his twin: “I love my brother – always have, always will,” he said.

Ashley & Mary-Kate Olsen
If Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen aren’t the most famous celebrity twins out there, they are at least the wealthiest. The 24-year-olds, who found fame on Full House, are rumoured to have a combined worth of $100 million.

Parker & Christopher Posey
Actress Parker Posey’s twin brother has a very different career to that of his sis. While she’s been dubbed ‘Queen of the Indies’, her brother Christopher practises law in Atlanta.

Rosie & Lily Fortescue
Made In Chelsea star Rosie Fortescue’s twin, Lily, is just as much of a Chelsea girl as her sister. Lily works in fashion hotspot, Austique, on the King’s Road.

Karen & Kate Elson
Karen Elson shares her good looks with twin Kate. Like her more famous sis, Kate has walked the catwalks for the likes of Matthew Williamson, Dolce & Gabbana and Moschino. But, more recently, Kate has also launched a film-making career, creating short movies.

Mo & Hassan Farah
Did you know Mo Farah was a twin? Us, neither. The Olympic and World champion’s brother Hassan stayed in Somalia when Mo, then aged eight, left the war-torn country to live with his father in the UK. It was 12 years before they met again.

Alanis & Wade Morrisette
It’s a little known fact that Alanis Morissette has a twin brother called Wade. The singer wrote her song, No Pressure Over Cappuccino, about her brother, who is 12 minutes older and a yoga instructor.

Siva & Kumar Kaneswaran
The Wanted star Siva Kaneswaran has an identical twin brother, Kumar, along with six other siblings. Apparently Kumar makes the most of having a famous brother. “He goes around saying to fans he’s me to fool them and they believe him every time,” said Siva. “He does a bit of modelling and at a fashion show everyone was shouting my name at him and he was loving it. He gets people taking pictures of him in restaurants and everything.”

Gisele & Patricia Bundchen
Gisele Bundchen shares her stunning looks with Patricia, her fraternal twin by five minutes, but she prefers to stay behind the camera – as her sister’s manager.

Charlotte & Samantha Ronson
Twins Charlotte and Samantha Ronson have both found fame in different areas. While Samantha rules nightclubs across the world with her catchy DJ mixes, Charlotte tears up the New York catwalks with her unique fashion designs.

Will & Rupert Young
Will Young revealed that he originally struggled having a twin brother. “The nature of being twins is that you constantly get compared, and one twin can suffer….it was decided that I was the clever one and Rupert was the sporty one,” he said.

Kate & Karen Lawler
Big Brother star Kate Lawler has a lot to thank her twin sister for. It was Karen who encouraged her to apply to do the reality TV show and she went on to become the first-ever female winner.

Caroline & Jody Flack
Olly Murs and Caroline Flack have more in common than just The Xtra Factor. Caroline also has a double in Jody, her twin sis.

Aaron & Bryce Dessner
Twins Aaron and Bryce Dessner are the founding members of indie rock band, The National but have been collaborating together since the age of five, when they were bought a fife and drum. The pair say having a twin has helped their music: “You have a sort of feedback loop, where you can bounce things off of each other.”

Charlie & Craig Reid
Who would have guessed that the Scottish duo behind The Proclaimers were identical twins? Charlie and Craig Reid have toured the word together with hits like I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles).

Matt & Luke Goss
Eighties band Bros are famous for their denim jeans, crew cuts and the fact that brothers Matt and Luke Goss are twins.
